“Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things.” -  Frank A. Clark

One of the toughest lessons to learn in life is that it is basically a routine. It is simply made up of little things is it not? We get up, make the bed, get dressed , go to our jobs, pay the bills, maintain the house, care for the kids, eat dinner, spend time with our spouse or friends, and go to bed to pretty much do the same thing all over again the next morning.

Oh sure, there are variations and different appointments and agendas from day to day but unless we are a movie star or pro-athlete or just independently wealthy, our lives are comprised of the little things that combine to form the big picture.

That is why it is so important to do the little things well….to really care about them. Nothing in our lives is insignificant…and yes, there truly is a reason for everything. This is a hard lesson for most of us to learn. We want to hit the home run…we just don’t want to go to daily batting practice. We want to score an “A” on the test but we loathe studying the book at home before hand. We want to have a Godly, successful child but just get so weary with the continual nonstop parenting that goal requires.

Our daily prayer should be…God, help me to not become bored with the little things. Help each day to seem fresh and important and give me a new desire every morning for the routine that is just part of my life. Because whether we realize it or not, the routines of life can be very healthy.

Don’t stop dreaming about the big things…just keep pressing on with the little things in the meantime…and oh yes….talk to God every day about all of it.
